What makes a portrait great? Usually it's not talent. It's a series of steps and fundamentals that classical painters build every portrait on, from the first block-in to the final refinements. In Elegant Portraits, Cornelia Hernes takes you through that whole process in oil. She was a principal instructor at the Florence Academy of Art, and she paints one portrait from start to finish, explaining what she does and why at every step. Nine hours of instruction, filmed in her own studio. Whether you're painting your first portrait or your fiftieth, you'll see exactly how a classical portrait comes together.
