The Frontrunner Colombo ad: New Balance SC Rebel v1

Oska's full review of the New Balance SuperComp Rebel v1. New Balance's first plated trainer, and it's not built the way you'd expect. Short version: most plated trainers use the plate to fling you forward. New Balance have put theirs almost at the ground, under a 36mm slab of their new Infinion foam, so it works as a stabiliser instead. Smooth and controlled the whole way through the stride rather than bouncy. The plate's forked in the forefoot too, so you stay in charge of how fast you roll inwards. 40/36mm, 4mm drop, and race legal which matters if you're doing a marathon off the bike and most shoes in this category are over the limit. Oska's pick for higher-cadence runners who want one shoe for uptempo work and long runs. Fit note from him: he went up half a size to a US 9, as he does in a few New Balance models.
