"Story time... I nearly gave my husband a heart attack in southern Spain. We were hiking through a national park near Cabo de Gata, along the coast. Gorgeous Mediterranean views. Different beaches every day. National park trails winding down to the water. And four passports somewhere in the universe. I say ""somewhere"" because they were NOT where I thought they were. Now, we have a verbal checklist when we travel as a family. Gas? Food? Water? Passports? It's a great checklist. Except when I'm the passport person and I can't find them. I was in charge of all four. Mine, my husband's, both kids'. All stuffed into a plastic bag rattling around inside my backpack with the suncream and the snacks. (I know. I KNOW.) I immediately began to sweat. That's what happens when you break rule number one: don't lose the passports. I frantically tore my backpack apart. ""I just saw them this morning. Maybe I left them at the campsite."" Which, by the way, was a tent. Tents don't have locks. Not helpful. After scouring the rental car and every pocket of my bag, my husband just goes: ""Don't worry about it. I made copies. Let's go cool off in the water. We can't do anything about it now."" He's always calm like that. He never gets mad at me for things like this, which is lucky because when your thoughts are in a million places at once... it happens more than I'd like to admit. So we started hiking down towards the ocean, me sweating and freaking out on the inside, when suddenly... ""WAIT. I think I know where they are."" And sure enough. There they were. Inside my husband's backpack, exactly where I'd put them that morning and completely forgotten about. Safe. The whole time. Now here's the thing. The passports were fine. But standing on that clifftop in the blazing heat of southern Spain, convinced I'd ruined our entire family holiday? That was the moment I decided never again. I'd been doing it all wrong. A plastic bag is not a system. So I got the Far & Wide family passport holder and I genuinely can't believe I didn't have one sooner. All four passports. Boarding passes. Cards. Documents. One place. One zip. Done. I went for the blue one, and it comes in loads of colours, so bright and easy to spot, no more digging through a backpack in a panic. No plastic bags. No rubber bands. No clifftop meltdowns in 35 degree heat. So next time you're thinking about packing passports, just know that you're one simple solution from never having that panic. Tag a parent who needs this."
