When writing about @rayonvert.international it’s easy to get sidetracked with the prints and the labels and their amazing website and the long-sleeved tees that look like ‘90s PC game box-art, but all that maybe overlooks the other, slightly more subtle, details that makes the brand so interesting. They’re working with historic Tuscan mills on high-tech recycled wool fabrics. They’re harnessing the natural powers of merino wool to craft cold-weather fleece perfection. They’re organising chess tournaments (and making chess-board bandanas for the ultimate ultralight Sicilian Defence). They’re making all their clothing in Italy, all in a 200km radius of their Milan studio. And lastly, they’re actually out there, hiking through the Alps and bike-packing across the Atlas Mountains, testing this stuff in unforgiving landscapes where kit matters. We could go on. This lot are truly out on their own, and for that we salute them.
