Onecompress™ ad: My husband has no idea why I'm sleeping again.

My husband has no idea I do this but most nights somewhere around 2 or 3 in the morning, after my second or third trip to the bathroom, I sit on the edge of the tub and scroll my phone looking for answers. And i've been doing it for about a year now. I'm 61 and for the past two years I've been waking up to pee three to five times every night. I know how that sounds. Like its not a big deal, but when it's every single night and you haven't slept more than a couple hours in a row for as long as you can remember, it stops being minor pretty fast. I've been so tired that I backed into a mailbox pulling out of my driveway last spring, and thats when I started getting scared. I went to my doctor, and she ran tests, and everything was fine. She told me to cut fluids before bed which I'd already been doing for months. She even told me to try double voiding before I lie down and I tried it. But i'm still up at 1, 3, and 5 am like always. So most nights I end up sitting in the bathroom with my phone, reading the same health forums and reddit threads from people dealing with the exact same thing. And every single thread has the same responses. Have you tried drinking less water? Have you seen a urologist? and they say it's probably just aging. I was starting to believe that last one, that this was just how it was going to be from now on. Then about two months ago I found a thread that was different. A woman posted about waking up constantly and someone who said they'd worked in vascular care for over 20 years replied with an explanation I had never seen anywhere. It's not from my doctor, not from any article, and not from any of the hundreds of threads I'd read before. They explained that during the day, fluid collects in your legs just from being upright and you might notice your ankles are a little puffier by evening or your socks leave marks when you take them off, but most people don't think anything of it. At night when you lie flat, your body sends all that fluid back to your kidneys and they do what kidneys do. They make urine. So your waking up all night not because you drank too much water but because your body is processing the fluid that's been sitting in your legs since morning. I must have read that comment five times and it made so much sense that I was almost angry nobody had ever explained it to me before and two years of cutting off water at 5pm for nothing and It was never about the water. Someone in the same thread mentioned bamboo compression socks that prevent the fluid from pooling in the first place. And do not worry because it's not the stiff medical ones you see at the pharmacy. They said these were soft enough to wear all day and even sleep in, which I thought was strange because everything I've read says take compression off at night. But the logic made sense to me like if the problem is fluid pooling during the day and redistributing at night, then keeping gentle compression on through both is kind of the whole point. I ordered them that night from the bathroom floor at probably 3am, and they have a 60 day guarantee so I figured worst case I'd send them back. They came two days later and I put them on right away and the first thing I noticed is they felt nothing like those rigid pharmacy socks I tried years ago. These were actually soft, almost like regular socks but with a gentle steady pressure from toe to knee. The first night I only got up twice, and a week later, once and some nights now I sleep straight through to 5am and I honestly forget what it used to be like. I'm not going to pretend they fixed everything. I still have nights where I'm up twice and mornings where I'm a little groggy. But most nights I'm sleeping four or five hours straight and that is something I genuinely did not think was possible two months ago. My husband finally noticed I wasn't getting up as much. He said something at breakfast last week about how I seemed less exhausted and more like myself. I didn't tell him about the 3am bathroom floor phone sessions and some things are better left unsaid. But I did order him a pair because his legs swell too and he just doesn't complain about it. Typical. I will put the link below if anyones interested, because I wish someone had told me about this two years ago.
