Maca root has been used for fertility in its native Peru for hundreds of years (for both men and women!). Traditionally it has been given as a gift to newly weds and also taken by couples struggling to conceive.💗⠀ The first mention of Maca’s usage for fertility in history is in 1653 by Father Cobo, followed by Ruiz in the 18th century, describing Maca’s “fertility-enhancing properties and also its stimulant effects” (G.F. Gonzales, Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.)🌿⠀ Maca has been studied for its fertility benefits for the past several decades, starting with Peruvian Biologist Dr Gloria Chacon, who found that maca has “very observable effects on fertility problems” (Beth Ley, MACA: Adaptogen and Hormonal Regulator).⠀ A 2019 study found that a nutritional blend containing Maca showed an increase in the number of women who successfully ovulated from 10% to 50% (Maedica, 2019). Another study published in the Asian Journal of Andrology showed that “Maca improved sperm production and sperm motility” in men who took either 1500mg (1/2 teaspoon) or 3000mg (1 teaspoon) per day for 4 months.👏⠀ ☝️However, NOT ALL MACA IS MADE QUAL: the effects you experience depend on Maca types, where and how it’s grown and how it’s then processed. Organic Burst Maca is famous for being VERY EFFECTIVE - as it’s an authentic Peruvian preparation and a mix of 4 Maca plant varieties💛🖤💜❤️.
