Zoom right there. That's what seven days of regular polish looks like on me. I'm not posting this to flex a bad manicure. I'm posting it because I spent years thinking this was just how nails behave after a week and I only found out otherwise by accident. I've always had nails that chip fast. Doesn't matter the brand doesn't matter the price doesn't matter how many coats or how careful I am. Seven days in, you get exactly what's in that photo. Lifting at the base, chipped tips, that weird patchy look right where my cuticle is. I used to just accept it. Redo them, wait a week, redo them again, pay for another bottle that would do the exact same thing. I thought that was the deal with nail polish, you pay for a few good days and then you deal with the rest until your next free afternoon or your next trip to the store. A friend saw my hands at a barbecue and asked what happened. I told her, "nothing happened, this is just day seven." She looked confused and said hers don't do that. I asked what she uses. She said she stopped using bottles entirely she uses a pen now straight onto the nail, no brush at all. I figured that wouldn't help me specifically. I'm not good with my hands, I can barely wrap a present in a straight line, so I assumed any precision tool would just be worse for someone like me. She told me it's actually the opposite. You're not balancing a loaded brush trying to coat the whole nail in one careful swipe, you just press the tip where you want the color and it goes exactly there. She said she's not particularly steady either and it hadn't been an issue once. She also mentioned she'd stopped buying a new bottle every few weeks. One pen, five colors in a set, and she wasn't replacing half used bottles that all chipped the same way anyway. I ordered one mostly to prove her wrong on all counts. First time using it took me about five minutes, no mess, no bleeding onto my skin, even with my shaky attempt at a straight line on my pinky. First week with it, I checked every day expecting to see that same patchy base. Day five, nothing. Day seven, still nothing. No lifting at the cuticle no that weird bald patch like in this photo. I'm not saying my nails are suddenly indestructible. I'm saying the thing in this picture, the thing I thought was just how my nails are, hasn't happened once since I switched, and I haven't bought a new bottle since either. If you've got a photo like this on your phone too and you've been telling yourself it's just your nails or that you're just not good at this, it might actually just be the brush. It's called the Nail Pen. Five colors. Dries in 10 seconds. The link is right below. https://sweenly.com/products/bordeaux-nail-pen
